- Wow. I've never heard anything like that. I've been using the 80w90 in the transmission and diff. for years with no problems... that never 20W50.

- If it was a mistake, it was one that was repeated time and time again! While early Triumphs (TR2, 3, 4, etc.) did recommend running engine oil in the transmissions, I don't it holds true of Spitfire
