Take the fan belt off and turn the water pump, alternator and air pump(if you have one) by hand. Could be something like a water pump stud sticking out a little far and hitting the pulley. Try start

Have you taken the valve cover off to check the timing chain top guide. The EVIL L may have broken off and fallen down to the bottom. The timing chain could be hitting that piece. That would be prop
