- Why do you need the mercury vapor lamp? Softness is important in shop lighting, so I would think you would be better served to put the $100 into more SOURCES of light, say more fluorescents. You have

- For lights: I used the 4' shop lights at most hardware stores. They're cheap enough that you can put up a bunch of 'em. For the ceiling: I used 1/4" waferboard. This is a BIG mistake. This stuff sags
