I happened upon a Spitfire Roadster at a local junkyard. It appears to be all there, much in need of restoration, but very little rust...hot dry, N.Cal. weather. It had a four cylinder Datsun engine

That sounds like the engine from a Datsun 1600 ( Later called 2000). These were copies of a generic British 2 seat convertable. These had copies of SU carbs, Hatichi I think. They look the same but n

I find it odd that everyone like to call the Datsun roadster a copy of the MGB or TR4 etc when if fact the car came out in 1956 or 57 pre-dating any of the wind up window inexpensive LBCs. The other
