Hey all, A quickie: Are the intakes from a 1296 and a 1500 interchangeable? Or better yet, Would a twin Weber manifold that lived on a 1296 be happy on a 1500? Thanks, Avi

Yes, they swap, as many of us running twin little SU's on our 1500's can tell you. Sometimes you can have a bit of problem with clearances on the very late exhaust manifolds (extra lumps), but it's e

I have noticed that there are two different versions of the 1296/1500 intake manifold though. The size of the ports where they match up to the head is different. Not sure which version goes with whic

Are you sure you aren't tripping yourself over TR-3 intake manifolds? I can't count the number of times I've picked one of those up thinking it's a Spitfire manifold, staring at it in confusion. I ha

Sorry Guys, My bad. Actually, I realized that I was talking about the single ZS manifold, not the dual SU. It's puzzling, since as you point out, the ports on the head are the same size. I have 3 man

We used the largest valves that could possible be fit into the head and if looks account for anything, I'd say ** You might want to be careful here (although it may be too late if you already fitted

Those small ports were done by design, to speed up the flow at lower engine speeds for emission purposes. The were not a mistake. Sometimes (most times :-}) especially "back then" compromises were ma
