Is there a heat shield undeer the carb? My old spit had the problem it came to me with headers and no heat shield. I put one in. all was ok. The 78 we got now. has one in and no boiling the fuel prob

Maybe, but certain electrical components can start to go wrong when warm... a coil I had in my 1500 was playing up - when replaced, it worked much better. But as that's all been replaced I doubt it
