Yeah, me too. But is it actually worse for the engine to rev it up unloaded than it us to rev it up under load? It is a Microdynamics. I figure maybe under years of vibration maybe the potentiometer

Thanks for all your continued help and suggestions! Dick's thought of checking the distributor shaft for play may have turned something up -- there is some play. How much play is there allowed to be?

Mark, I don't know any details about the shaft "side play" limits. However, if the battery won't fully charge (assuming it used to) I recommend a new battery first! I've heard MANY tales of misfires
