Polished granite doesn't really need to much care. It pretty impervious to liquids. Marble on the other hand is very porous and definitely needs to be sealed. If you wish to take the precaution of se

We have had granite slabs for our bathroom counters for more than ten years. All they get is washing with soap and water, or 409, or whatever the cleaning person happens to have at hand. No sealer. R
