BOOM! NO, NO, NO, NO! NEVER WELD A GAS TANK. Sparks, hight heat, etc. can ignite the fuel, even with water in there. If there were somehow absolutley no trace of fumes, (Sitting open for 50 years),

Greg, Find a radiator shop that will boil out the tank and weld patches on it. many won't touch them, but when they are boild out they are safe. I don't think the varoiuse tank patching goos work lon

Throw it away, bite the big one and buy a new one. I tried the slosh stuff from Moss. Followed instructions and it lasted 2 1/2 seasons. The stuff ended up in my fuel pump and some of it to the carb

Well, I have had some experience soldering a gas tank... Like everyone else who has responded, I strongly recommend you don't try to weld the tank yourself; ESPECIALLY while it's still in the car. A

Thanx to everyone who responded to my query! I must say that the volume of responces was most impressive! 1) Remove tank, inspect. 2) take into Rad shop for boiling plus estimate. 3) pending outcome
