Sounds like you gear oil may be a bit heavy?????........most of the old OD's were made for 30 or 40 Wt. motor oil (no multi-viscosity).........Red Line SAE 70W80 seems to be about SAE 30 wt. motor o

My '69 has OD, but I believe it was a replacement tranny. It had a jury-rigged rear tranny mount, and it was operated with a toggle switch under the dash instead of the normal steering column switch.
