For a while drag folks were using something called hydrazine (sp?), 'tell it was banned. I've seen pictures of dragsters in the lights with the pans glowing red and REALLY big flames from the headers

Yeah, Glenn, I remember they called it a rocket fuel. Don't know whether it was danger of explosion, toxic nature, or whether just too many blowups/oil downs. Supposedly they even sounded different.
