Dan: It should be no problem to remove the bumper (it just bolts on), and put washers or some other type of shim behind the bolt to move the bumper out away from the body. As shipped, there were shim

Chain the bumper secureley at the point of impact and back up suddenly. With a little finesse, I've had luck with this method, though beware when the chain pops! Erik ('65 B, '66 Volvo 122)
