Yep, that's all there is to it. Clean it up nice with steel wool, rub it up shiny with aluminum foil. What do you do with the aluminium foil? Just rub it on the chrome?

It doesn't matter, it's the same aluminum on both sides of the foil. Do you use the shiny side or the dull side?
