Many other manufacturers use an iron upper manifold, with a tubular lower manifold, without incident or problem. I've got & had several, Toyota and Fiat for example. The difference between the ones t

I have the same issues with mine. I have to replace the gasket again. What I noticed on mine is that the nuts worked themselves loose. In fact, I checked the pipe after several weeks and saw that all

Lock washers are not particularly effective. You can find all-metal self-locking nuts that would probably work OK. They have a tight, slightly springy top part that makes them hard to turn on the stu

I think the twin-pipe is the exhaust of interest. I have the stock US spec MK IV manifold and single pipe with three studs, and that joint has never given me the least bit of trouble as long as I can

This is all great news, but I have heard it before and didn't like it much then. When I hook up my dual down pipe to the euro header, I will not clamp the down pipe to anything but the noisey, rust p

I guess that answers my question about whether tubular inserts would cause a problem with the flow of exhaust gases. If Toyota and Fiat both design them in, there can't be any real reason for concern

Hi Mike, Triumph design them in too, just not in the case of the 1500 exhaust. In the case of the 1200, 2000 and other exhaust manifolds, the pipe is continued into a recess in the manifold so that

Toyota and others simply weld the flange down lower on the pipes a bit, allowing them to stick up into the iron upper manifold a little. In the case of a Spitfire, you'd have to weld a little stub pi

No need to make it so complex Bill. If you slip in a pipe section and tack it in place, there's no need to modify the iron manifold or use a different gasket. It'll all fit together and bolt up exact
