Hi all, I know this is a subject frequently asked about, but, has anyone done a Z20E engine swap? I found a good engine from a 1980 200SX with a 5 speed transmission that I can have for free. I was m

The Z20 is basically an L-20 with a NAP-Z head. Yes, it could be done, but clearances would almost certainly be a problem, both pan to cross member and cam cover to hood. Plus you'd have to do a lot

You originally said you were only interested in the 5-speed tranny for your AFAIK, the only 5-speed tranny that will bolt up without too much trouble to a roadster engine is a 5-speed roadster tranny

Ummm....Sort of. IF you can find a diesel p/u transmission, you can bolt the bellhousing to the 200SX/260Z/280Z/Pickup 5spds, and then bolt it to your engine. Other minor mods may be required to fit

Don't see how... It's shorter than an L20b, and I've seen a few of those in Roadsters... Also, the Z20/Z22 doesn't have the cam gear hump in the front that the L20b/U20 have. If you use a truck or 5

I thought the Z20 and Z22 are the same height as the L-20 (3/4 inch taller than the L-16/18) and the Z24 is an additional 3/4 taller than that the Z20/Z22. Regardless, swapping anything other than a

If it's like the L20, then the external oil pump on the front cover intereferes with the front crossmember and requires notching. If you decide to do this, DO NOT do like one of our former club membe

The Z20/Z22 is 1/2" shorter overall than the L20b. Since the cam is sunk down in the head, instead of on top of the head like the L20b, the head has a much lower profile.

I believe the tranny you have is of the FS5W71B type. So the following applies: "1. Same length as 4 spd, looks like same shifter position. (later turns out shifter is a little bit forward) 2. Trans
