I'm hoping everybody is entitled to one stupid question and one cross post. As we speak, I have the engine out of my TR6, dangling from the hoist and tentatively bolted into an engine stand. Here lie

Yes, the bolts are 5/16" diameter (1/2" heads) -- my fault in typing without proofing what I said in a hurry to get it mounted (rented the engine hoist). So I currently have it mounted using 4 5/16"

Those bolts/holes sound kind of small. Aren't there any larger holes? How about the holes for the starter? Are the holes that you are using meant for mounting dirt shields instead of the actual trans

Mounting from the side of the block is often better for 4 cylinder engines. Can't you find some thing on the side of the block? - 3 or 4 cast bosses for an engine mount, or an oil pump mounting flang
