- I'm no expert, but could it be that you need more fuel because the engine is getting additional air via a ram air effect? A 490 Cu in engine at 7500 RPM needs about 1060 CFM of air (assuming no pump

- Yep you be way out there. What you are suggesting is at 220 you are running 28 lbs of boost. i think not.. To answer Udo you jet for density altitude not the phyical distance from sea level. Dave

- Yikes. No way for 28 lbs of boost. Must be conversion process for ram air to psi. I'll go back to stuff I know. Thanks, Jim W. running

- Without breaking out the ol' fluids books, I recall the effective static air pressure increase due to ram effect at speed to be a few percent at 100 mph and somewhere around 5-10% at 200 mph. Benn al

- what if the inlet is the size of a soda straw does it still work?

- Not what he said Dave. Only that at 100 mph the pressure recovery from speed is a few percent above static pressure and at 200 mph is is a bit more. For instance, at Speedweek the static pressure is

- If the soda straw is blocked off! ....I was only talking about the static pressure potential, not a BBC trying to breath through it. Benn -- Original Message -- From: "Dave Dahlgren" <ddahlgren@snet.
