This regulator component produces from a switched 12/14VDC input a pulsed 0-12/14VDC output averaging 6-7VDC that powers the fuel and temp gauges. My **guess** is that bypassing with straight 12-14V

Yes, it is. Note there's actually three connections: It grounds thru the mounting screw. If it is not firmly screwed down, it doesn't do its job. It doesn't protect anything. It makes the fuel and t

Did you check the fuse with an Ohmmeter or voltmeter? The voltage should be about the same on both sides of the fuse holder. What is the current rating of the fuse you installed? Should it be larger

Ok, how do I test the "pulsating voltage regulator" for the fuel/temp/amp gauge--the thing on the steering column? That gauge cluster is out and we want to fix it. At one time, when you turned the ke

Do you have a volt meter? If so, check the voltage on each of the wires on the regulator. One should be solid 12V and the other should be pulsing between 0V and 12V if the regulator is working (This

It sounds like something is simply drawing a lot of current, at idle the output of an alternator is very low compared to its output above idle(i guess this depends on your idle speed), thus explainin
