1. Estimating camber? (score: 1)

Anyone know a cheapo way to measure front camber reasonably accurately? I won't be adjusting it, so it doesn't need to be too accurate. I just want to see roughly how much I have (say +-0.5').

Very roughly, I would use a carpenter's square and place it with one edge flat on the ground and the other 90 degree edge against the tire, touching the bottom part of the tire. Measure the distance

Brian asked: accurately? Yep: 1. Park the car on a level surface, preferably a finished concrete slab. The closer to level, the more accurate your results. 2. Make a plumb bob using a piece of thread

I typed: Oops. The formula should contain arcsin rather than arctan. The difference for small values of camber will be negligible, however. If you have -2 degrees, then the error due to use of arctan

Here's a better mousetrap. Randy's technique works, but doesn't allow for the bulge at the bottom of the tire. Also needs math. Jay's technique involves set-up and strings blowing about in the breeze

You will have to get your own square. 8) It better Okay, it took me a few reads of this to figure it out. Obviously your method requires intelligence..so I was screwed. But, now that I understand it,
