First thing I would check are the u-joints including the carrier bearing if it has one. Then jack the back up and rotate the rear wheels by hand while watching the drive shaft. You should be able to

Diesel Don't rule out the trans. I've heard several people (and also know a couple myself) who have had trans problems with similar applications behind diesels. Don't know how you use the truck, but
