OK, I tried the solution offered below to no avail. I now also notice a small leak at the front of the reservoir where it joins the metal part of the cylinder. Are there replaceable seals you can get

I just rebuilt my brakes and had the same leak at first. I think that once the new seals were exposed to the brake fluid for a while they must have expanded because the leak stopped. The seals are i

Thanks to Nick, Greg and Bob for your thoughts. I noticed that the large front seal on the reservoir barely sits above the metal of the seating in the cylinder. This looks like it was due to corrosio
