No, you don't need to remove those small bolts. What you need to do is back off the brake shoes. There is a rubber plug at the bottom of the backing plate (just below the axle). Remove that. Then yo

Smokey, Scott said you don't have to pull the little bolts, but I think you do. They hold the drum on the hub when the car was on the production line. You shouldn't have had to pull the hub nut. And

I guess my memory failed me. I didn't recall removing the bolts the last time I worked on the brakes, but it has been a while. The wheel cylinders are nice and cheap. According to my maintenance book
