Very good question! I always use a buzz bomb type rustoleum type primer with same brand top coat. I also have used a wrinkle type paint on the cast or FE parts. I agree with KT on the powder coating

zerorust.com or rust bullet at itkillsrust.com are both way better than Rustoleum. One is silver, one is low gloss black. Personally I would use Rust Bullet, a moisture cured urethane, then top coat

I painted a flat bed care hauler with Rustoleum, I also used their primer and it didn't hold up good at all. That is the last time I will use it,lesson learned! Larry Mac

I would recomend Rust Bullet, a moisture cured urethane or Zero Rust a modified, high solids enamel. I prefer Rust Bullet for it's toughness. It is silver but can be topcoated to any color that you
