Does anyone out there know anything about puttin a different kind of alternator in an Alpine in place of that wonderful Lucas unit....

We use the later MGB, Lucus alternator. It's a "one wire" type & bolts exactly in place of the series V alternator. Jan

They can't be too bad, as they were used on the early Jag E-Types. I happen to know this as I recently replaced the front bearing on my neighbour's 3.8 E-type alternator with a spare from an old exam

Is this the same type as used in Imps? I just got told that those alternators need no control box (opposite item as "Kaos box" in the cars of Mr. Maxwell Smart's enimies.). Larry in total Kaos
