I think it really depends on how your ABS system is calibrated. I used to have a '94 MR2T, and its ABS system was outstanding. It would do the threshold braking for you and would even chirp the tires

FWIW the ABS on my '96 Miata will happily chirp the tires when it cuts in. It doesn't feel like the pedal is pulsing really, the tires just lock and unlock very fast. I understand pre-94 Miata ABS is
