Here is a nice drawing of the Kelsey Hayes brake system. http://wwnboa.org/pdbjpgs/Pdb16.jpg almost appears to act like a spring. Mine appear to be to compressed to act like a spring against the pin.

Greg. Redid my front discs this summer, exact same brakes as in the pic. Those little positioners were on the old brakes and I reused them. They are not in tension with new brake pads, they only star

Looks like what we alwqays called an anti rattle clip. It keeps tension on the pin so it is loose enough to float and doesnt rattle or click. 127GEORGE!!

Hi All; This reminded me a of a trick a mechanic taught me years ago. Where Loc-tite can bind things so tightly that you can break bolts off before you get them loose, try the disc brake-quiet stuff.
