Does anyone know how to decode the serial # of a 53 GMC pickup? The truck's serial # is 102-22 P 62869. I know that the 102-22 denotes 3/4 ton long wheelbase body style, but what does the rest mean?

I am pretty sure that the P= Pontiac, Michigan assembly plant, and I think the rest is the sequential production number (they don't normally start at zero), maybe someone else can tell you what numbe

Dustin, The GMC books don't break down as far as the chev's. I got this information came out of a 1954 Gmc parts book. 102-22= tells us that it is a 125 1/4" wheelbase half-tonlong wheelbase with a 2
