- Sometimes pistons were marked for size (tolerance) before engine assembly at the factory. But if the engine has been rebored, and oversized pistons are installed, you should see a number like "030"

- It's definitely GM - Distributor next to Firewall, markings on outside of cylinder heads indicate standard valve ports. BTW: Yesterday, I removed all the spark plugs and injected about 3 or 4 ounces

- Stan, Mark says that the engine # on his old rusty parts truck is 8835911. It's a GM. It was located between fuel pump and timing belt. What i'd like to know is where is the timing belt on a 53 chev.

- I will assume the Pastor meant 3835911 which would make it a '53 to '55 235. This would mean it's not the original 216 engine. Letter followed by 2 to 3 numbers just above the starter would indicate
