Hi all, Having great difficulty using aftermarket "original" door latches. Anyone installed the rotary or bear claw latches in the AD trucks? I want to use the original door handles inside and out. H

Don I installed an aftermarked door latch on my '50 model. Seems I had to lengthen the original shaft a bit, but not a big operation. Works great. Got it from Chevy Duty, as I recall. Smokey Culver

I would like to know the same thing. My aftermarket "original" door latches work very poorly, in fact I think they are worse than the 50 year old ones I replaced. There is a kit out there to replace

I just finished installing Bear Claw latches in my 55 first series rod project. I installed the latch in the body and the striker bolt in the door. With the installation kit is was very easy to do.

I wanted to install my first Bear Claw latch kit with the latch in the jam and the striker in the door but a story from my Uncle cure me. He told me of a custom he had with electrical solenoid doors

Thanks for bringing that up, never though of it. but it seems it would be easy to make some inconspicuous way of mechanically opening the doors even with the latches reversed. Most Bear Claw latches
