- the Some GMC's used rotator caps on the exhaust valves. These must be removed before the compressor will work. I doubt you would see any benefit from port work in daily use. The 228 head is limited

- All the shop manual says is "remove rotator caps"(!) It's been a while but I think they are a light press fit, like a lash cap. They should pry off using a screwdriver. If you plan on re-using them,
