- Your best bet is to start with the appropriate wiring diagram for your car, and trace each circuit, from the tail lamps forward, until you find the fault. A simple, 12v test lamp will help you find

- David, First, are all four lights affected? Front and rear? I would start by completely cleaning the fuse box contacts and fuse ends. Check to see if you have power coming out of the fuse box at all

- Max, It sounds like an issue with the ignition switch. You should be able to test it by using a hot wire to supply +12VDC to the red/white wire at the starter solenoid. This will kick in the starter

- Well, IF your car had a ballasted ignition system, that would be a symptom of a bad ballast resistor. You would not have a ballast resistor as original equipment on a 68. (a 78 does, however) Another

- As you said David, when the ignition is on I have 12vdc between - post of battery and + side of the coil. When i turn the key the voltage drops significantly. Another element that might be important

- Pretend you have a ballast resistor, and use a solenoid that has terminals to bypass it. I had to do this with my Ranchero to get the Pertronix to work. You're getting too much voltage drop somewhere
