I was doing a normal pre-race check on the race car last night and found cracks in both rear trailing arms. I guess I need to deal with this: http://web.mit.edu/blang/www/trailingarm-crack.jpg I hav

That's scary. What kind of shocks are you using? Do your bump stops actually touch when and where they are supposed to? Is the other TA cracked in a similar place? I tried putting in a shock in coil

Looks like there was a chipped edge on the casting, and the crack proliferated from the chip. Could it be damage incurred on the race track? Might be good to look for other chips and sand/polish the

Howdy. I have to be honest - I have no idea where the ding came from. I just haven't been watching that closely. That said, I don't recall that the crack was there in MAR when I installed the nylatro

Note - these tires are insanely sticky. I pick up 1/2 pound of gravel driving around the paddock on each tire when they are warm/hot. So we could be just seeing a combo of very high CoF and higher th

Have you looked into the coilovers that Tony from Ratco sell? With that said I don't know if you would run into a more servere bump stop problem. I have his setup on my driver because I have never l

Given that the crack originates (seemingly) on the lower side of the casting, and given that it originates between the hub and the shock, a hypothesis is that it is cracking because; The spring is t

Good theory, however the crack is actually on the outer flat between the hub carrier and the spring pan. That said - I am running springs that are roughly 600 pounds, so they are pretty stiff. The s

What Vance said seems to make sense, even if the crack is between the hub carrier and the spring pan. Take the situation where the trailing arm has compressed the spring and the shock has finally hal

Actually - the more I think about it . . . the more I think the TR trailing arm suspension has a lot of merits. I can't comment on the geometry of it - but having the shock act way out there on the t
