Am confused. (Doesn't take too much these days...) I have an MGA - 1600 - but with a Gold Seal 1500 replacement engine. Specs in the workshop manual call for .017 in for valve rocker clearance, cold.

I can confirm that on the 1969 model, the overdrive is supposed to be controlled by the right-hand stalk. The little switch on the left-hand side of the cowl is on on/off switch for the panel lights

Rich, My Special Tuning Booklet shows an optional axle ratio for the MGB of 4.55 that gives 15.4 mph per 1000 rpm in fourth gear. That would seem to work out right close to your observed numbers. --
