I got something similar meant for an engine heat riser at Pep Boys. It's about 1&5/8" in diameter, very dark gray in color, takes a semi-permanent bend, and slips on the outside of the output vents

Perhaps the reason the pump isn't stopping is because the fuel valve in the carburetor float valve is stuck open. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor and plug it, then see if the fuel pump

Undoubtedly, doing the List's "full Monty" will cure your problem. However, it sounds to me from the symptoms you describe that the radiator per se is OK. If you run 100-110 F below ambient, I'd say

This is a tough question to answer because it depends on so many factors (e.g., spring stiffness) and a lot of subjectivity. I think for any kind of performance driving you want approximately 50/50
