Check the diaphram on your ZenithStromberg Carb. Sounds like it has a hole in it. A hole means the vacuum chanmber that holds up the carb piston doesn't form a vacuum, so the piston doesn't stay up.

I had the same problem with the same model carb. Got to the point where I was spewing noxious fumes and only getting 24 MPG at best. On the Stromberg 150, you can't replace the needle seat. Apparentl
