The bed sides are 16 gauge. I just built new sides for my 55 first series and for my friends 51. Came out excellent. Cost $45 for each bed, one shet of 16 gauge steel. I have a replacement front bed

I just finished installing Bear Claw latches in my 55 first series rod project. I installed the latch in the body and the striker bolt in the door. With the installation kit is was very easy to do.
