I think what you need are the rack extensions. It moves the joint further out. I got mine from Yogi's. You don't want longer tie rods. That changes the geometry somewhat compared to a stock MII setup

As far as I know, I do not have rust in that area. But now you have me wanting to take a look! My overall plan is to add the A/C package from Vintage Air. Right now, I am welding in new floor pans.
