Your biggest problem with a custom diff/axle assembly may be keeping the stock bolt pattern... Why not just narrow an S-10 axle, get the Auburn LSD for it, and while converting it to disc brakes, re

The Z20/Z22 is 1/2" shorter overall than the L20b. Since the cam is sunk down in the head, instead of on top of the head like the L20b, the head has a much lower profile.
