The other trick I've used is to punch a hole in the bottom of the bottle with an awl and use an air gun to pressurize the gear oil bottle. Just remember to use the pressure regulator at about 20psi..

Not that I know of thats easy. Considering its usually about $5 for a new one, the easiest test would be to replace it. Universal (AFAIK). You just need to know the length. Or buy one thats too long,
