Neither? Are you sure it isn't a hose or non-return valve problem? Both have been by-passed. Braking works but it can certainly get exciting! Even though my expectations are lower due to 'vintage' me

There are enough B's around to modify one of those first. The B and C engine bay are similar, I imagine you would have more problems to overcome that would make the bay modification a simple part of
