Perhaps, but it's also much more likely to drip oil onto the braking surfaces. The 10ftlb of torque given in the manual is plenty to compress the felt. Randall

This may be the suggestion from the manual, but that method works only if the bearing races are completely and fully seated. For a long time, whenever doing a rebuild of the front bearing, I've used
