Michael, I had a very similar problem with one of the ZS 175 carbs on my Stag. When I first started the engine it idled nice and low, but after a minute or two the left side carb just started flowing

I agree with Dan. It's the bypass valve. Check your Bentley workshop manual, and it has a wonderful description on how to set this guy. You can buy a rebuild kit for just the bypass valve from Moss o
