I am assembling the front suspension on my 1959 TR3A. Today I was installing a new front bearing kit from TRF. The manual says to tighten the stub axle nut to 10 lb-ft, then back off by 1 1/2 to 2 fl

If I recall correctly ,these tapered roller bearings can take tremendous loads. 20 in-lb isn't a whole lot, so I think it might be OK....keep them well greased. Only one potential problem....heavily

The front brakes can (and do) generate a lot of heat, some of which winds up in the hub and can increase preload dramatically (since the spindle doesn't get as hot). Given the unpleasantry of having

Randall had it right again. I for one was not surprised. My problem was that the grease seal did not seat in all the way when fitted per the TR3 Workshop Manual. It was obvious when I took everything

I've always been taught........."better a little loose than too tight" Do those spindals have only one cross bore for the pin?.......I thought they had two......but then I haven't been there in awhil

Happy Holidays List! Bob, I some how received the impression from Glenn's posting, that he put the higher pressure on the bearing to 'Back Off' the nut to get the castle nut to line up with the hole
