- Hi List! What's the propose of a gasket? I thought it was to 'seal' the unit for it Not to leak? Like the Valve Cover Gasket. But there is a gasket that goes between the sump pump & the engine block

- Sealing is indeed the usual function of a gasket. They sometimes serve other purposes, cushioning between irregular/brittle parts or as a filler, but I can't think of any place on a Triumph motor wh

- Hi Jeff, The purpose of a gasket is to make a seal between two mating surfaces. In your case between the oil pump and the block. This item is not submerged in oil so if a perfect seal does not occur
