I read somewhere that on earlier cars equpped with the hand crank feature, it was standard practice to use spacers in the motor mount to adjust the engine crank to align with the radiator hole. _____

Should be enough to pass a fan belt through there. Yes. The factory did that too, on the earlier cars (not sure about a 4A), to align the crank dog with the crank hole. Randall _____________________
