- The bulbs are not the same. One is plated more than the other. One has a filiment welded shorter than the other. Swap the bulbs and see if if the pattern reverses. Or better yet, just replace both bu

- There are several reasons why the brake lights would be of a different brightness. 1) Different bulbs. 2) Dirty contacts in the wire harness. But the most probably cause is: 3) bad ground connection.
