Thanks for all the info. Yes, I suppose the Spit is shorting somewhere. It is a 76. I remember it has some melted white wires within the harness from past battles. I suspect that may be the problem

Thanks Paul, I am also suspicious of the fuse box itself. I cleaned that up and so far the fuses are holding. Not sure about the relationship between first having voltage regulator issues when I lost

I ride a Harley Davidson regularly as well as a couple of vintage bikes. If you are hit by anything on a bike you are toast. No protection what so ever. Leathers may help a little. Triumph's at least
