I have the newer type ele.igniton, no points, is some sort of magnetic setup when the points would go, of course. I did check a plug agains the body, no spark at all. I will do some more checking and

I would bet that you simply outpaced the delivery of fuel to the engine.....either because of fuel bowl level dropping and float/valve setting not able to "keep up" with demand or fuel pump not able
