- My unequivocal vote is to choose the A Type over the J. As Randall has mentioned, the A will give instant shifts and since it was an option on all of the side screen cars it is more suited to them.

- The 4A was initially equipped with the group 27 battery. Whether it was a straight 27 or the 27F I don't know. The TRA guide only states that it was a group 27. A few years ago I used the same group

- Not just the glass but I also had the same effect on the engine cowl which is metal. Joe Possibly that is true on fiberglass, I've not tried it. It makes sense to me that the silicone will penetrate
