I have a 1275 engine that I think drips more oil than is normal. The oil seems to be leaking out between the back of the engine and the rear engine plate, and not through the hole in the gearbox bell

It is (in my experience) depressingly typical. I replaced the seals on the oil pan a few times, put on one of those aftermarket 360-degree oil seals, and finally determined it was caused by a cracked

Well, knock wood, 450 miles on a 1275 I recently built and not one single drip, as in zero. At one point I thought the head was damp near the front left oil feed hole, but dried up upon retorquing.

Eriks, it is unfortunately quite "normal". I am reading a number of contemtorary test articles right now, and testers mention it on almost NEW CARS! The problem usually is the rear end of teh cranksh

Eriks, what you have is just fine. The later 1275s had the PCV valve essenrially built into the carb body, they did not use an external valve. Ulix __/__,__ ..........................................
